UEFA confirmed that 45-year-old referee Milorad Mazic will start the Champions League final 2017/18 on May 27 between Real Madrid and Liverpool in Kiev.
Milorad Mazic has been the international referee since 2009. This season, Mazic has been handed four matches in the Champions League and two in the Europa League.
Mazics once held the 2017 Confederations Cup final between Chile and Germany, as well as the 2016 European Super Cup involving Real Madrid and Sevilla. In the next World Cup 2018 in Russia, Mazic is also listed on FIFA on duty.
In the past, Mazic was named the worst referee in the 2014 World Cup, taking 87,362 of the 110,000 votes cast.
Mazic was at the center of controversy in the 4-0 defeat of Portugal. At the same time, he blamed the controversial penalty for "Tank" and soon followed with a red card for the Portuguese defender Pepe.
At the Argentine side, Iranian coach Carlos Queiroz was furious that Mazic had stolen a penalty from his team.
