Good poker players are always interested in the position on the Poker table. Specifically, it is their position relative to the dealer's position in each game. The dealer not only identifies the players who will have to place blind money (two people on the left of the Dealer's position) but also the order of action in all subsequent betting rounds.

The order of action in Poker takes place clockwise. The player on the left of the dealer will take the first action and turn one round of the table, ending in the dealer position.

Therefore, the most advantageous position on the Poker table is the dealer. In most of betting rounds (except the first round - pre-flop), the players in the dealer position is the last action, thus getting the most information about the strength of other players’ cards.

If all opponents are weaker, by checking for instant, the player in the dealer position can bet and most likely win small pots. In contrast, if the opponent shows the stronger cards, by big bet or all in for instant, the player in the dealer position can fold and lose only at least when the cards are weaker.

The playing strategy varies according to the position on the poker table. A 9-person poker table is divided into 3 groups of positions: early, middle and late.

Early Position

The early position is including: small blind (SB), big blind (BB) and the next 2 players on the left of the big blind. The first person to the left of the big blind is called "Under the gun" (UTG) because this is the first person to act in the pre-flop and there is no information about the intention of the opponent. The next person to his left, also at the head of the table, is called UTG + 1.

The players at the top of the table need to have strong hands to fight. They are forced to take action at the earliest and thus have the least information about the opponent.

Middle Position

It is a group of positions between UTG + 1 and the player to the right of the dealer (CO). Compared to the head of the table, the players in the middle of the table can play more openly (no need to select the hand as carefully as the people at the top of the table) because fewer players act after them.
However, playing in this position is still risky because the players at the end of the table will have an advantage over them.

Late Position

It is the most beneficial on the Poker table. This group includes the first position which is called cut - off (CO) and the last position is the position of the Dealer (BTN - button).

These are the best positions on the Poker table because the players in this position takes the last action, observed all the moves of the opponent and gathered the most information. This is also the position where you can play with hands that are weaker because you have the best condition to judge the strength of your opponent's hand.

Note: The Dealer is not fixed which moves clockwise after each game. Thus, each player in turn is a Dealer as well as all other positions on the Poker table. Therefore, no one has a permanent advantage or disadvantage at a position.

Poker table isn’t enough for 9 players

As above we researched the positions on a standard 9 - person Poker table. However, if our table doesn’t have 9 players, what will happen? It’s very simple, if lacks of one player, you can leave a numbered position and start from the top of the table.

For example:
- If the Poker table has only 8 players, it has no more UTG+1 position.
- If there are only 7 players on the table, the MP+2 position will be removed.
- With 6 players on the Poker online table, there are no more numbered position. It only has SB, BB, UTG, MP, CO, BTN positions.

Conclusion

The positions is important during playing Poker online because when you act after other players, you will get valuable information. If there are already players who call cards, you have to understand that you need a stronger hand to play. On the other hand, if everyone fold cards, any two cards are good enough for you to steal blind money.check out site

In general, the more your position is at the top of the table, the more your selective playing style is or the stronger your card is to fight. In contrast, sitting in the bottom position will allow you to play more hands.

In addition, you also need to know how to evaluate the strength of the hand, what are the good cards, etc. So, you should spend your time to learn more about how to choose hand in Poker online.
